Hamberg
- Total walking time: 7 hours
- Level of difficulty: advanced
- Start: Gasthof Bergrast, Stumm
- Equipment: good hiking shoes, possibly hiking poles, little snack for a break
Description
From Gasthof Bergrast, you begin with a short part along a paved road - at the first crossroads, turn right and then, at the end of the road at a stone wall, take a left. From here, the hiking path takes you steeply uphill through the forest to the Demotsteinalm. Above this hut, the path again leads you through the forest, this time to the Steinbergalm – but from here, the hiking path runs through tree-less terrain as far as the Hamberg. Just below the summit, the trail branches off in the direction of the Standkopf. This is followed by a steep climb to the summit itself. The path from the Standkopf to the Tapenkopf is reached via a secured trail - from the summit of the Tapenkopf, the route takes us downhill to the Legeralm, before continuing back to the Steinbergalm.
Hiking tour Spieljoch Kellerjoch
- Total walking time: 5 hours
- Level of difficulty: advanced
- Start: Spieljoch mountain lift station
- Equipment: good hiking shoes, possibly hiking poles

The Kellerjoch is the most beautiful lookout mountain of the Inn Valley. From the Kellerjochhütte, you can hike either via an alpine trail to the Spieljochbahn lift, or return via the same route. IMPORTANT: If you decide to return via the alpine trail, it is vital that you speak to your host at the Kellerjoch Hütte before departing!
Peter Habeler summit climb
- Total walking time: 3 hours
- Level of difficulty: advanced
- Start: Edelhütte Mayrhofen
- Equipment: good hiking shoes, possibly hiking poles
Description
You will leave the Edelhütte and hike via a very clearly marked trail through a number of small bends up to the plateau, altitude around 2400m. With the summit constantly in sight, you will now make your way up a steep series of switchbacks. The trail markings in the form of stones or short wooden posts are easy to find. At an altitude of 2,650m, a well-maintained trail leads to the right upwards across broad slabs of rock and scree up to the Silbersattel. This is where the difficult part of the climb to the almost 3,000m summit begins. Don't get confused by the numerous options for climbing up there, being sure only to follow the marked trail. These red markings have been applied to many rocks along the way. Clambering up across big slabs of rock, you will finally come to the south summit of the Ahornspitze. In order to make your way up to the main summit, you will need to drop down a few metres facing north. The most dangerous section is secured by means of a steel cable. From the small alpine gap, it is only a matter of a few meters to the summit (altitude approx. 2,973m).
Wetterkreuzspitze
- Total walking time: 5,5 hours
- Level of difficulty: advanced
- Start: Church in Ried
- Equipment: good hiking shoes, possibly hiking poles
Description
Walk from Ried town centre towards Kaltenbach as far as the Riedbach bridge. Just before the bridge, take a right onto the hiking path that leads through the forest - now along the "Way of the Cross", your hike takes you to Riedberg chapel. From there, the hiking path continues until it crosses with the Riedbergstrasse. After a bend, the path branches off to the left onto a forestry road. Continue hiking along this forestry road until you reach the Zillertaler Höhenstrasse. After briefly remaining on this road, the route once again takes you on a hiking path through forest. After this point, the path crosses with the Höhenstrasse yet again. Hike along the road as far as the toll station. Immediately after the toll station, head uphill to the right on a hiking path that will lead you out to the Hochalm. Just before the hut, the path will take you on a zigzag climb up to the top of the Wetterkreuzspitze.
